About the Event

Singer tickets can now only be purchased in person at Fisherwick Church from 9.30am

Audience tickets can be purchased from 3.30pm

Join members of the Belfast Philharmonic Choir, conductor Stephen Doughty, and accompanist Gail Evans to learn classics of the choral repertoire in a full day of music-making.

In the beautiful Fisherwick Church, where Belfast Philharmonic Choir performed earlier this season, you will be led through some of the most popular choruses in classical music, including Handel's Zadok the Priest; Stainer's God So Loved the World; and Vivaldi's Gloria. If you saw the Phil perform Mendelssohn's Elijah last June and wanted to join in, we will also be singing the choruses 'Cast Thy Burden Upon the Lord' and 'He, Watching over Israel'! The day is open to singers of all ages and experience who would like to learn choral music in a fun and welcoming atmosphere, with the professional instruction of the Philharmonic's own Chorus Master.

At the end of the day, the whole group will perform a short recital of what they have learned, to demonstrate to friends and family just how much can be accomplished in six hours or less! This annual event is one of the highlights of the Philharmonic season and booking in advance is always recommended.

Registration: 9.30am (tea or coffee on arrival)

Rehearsals: 10am - 3.30pm (with lunch break 1.15pm-2.15pm)

Recital: 4-5pm

There is no dress code for the day but please wear something warm and comfortable.

Lunch is not provided but the church hall will be open to eat anything you have brought with you, or singers can leave to get lunch and come back for the second half of the rehearsal.

For each singer ticket you must specify the name and voice type for the singer.

If you chose postage for your music (before 8th February) the booklet should be with you by 12th February.

For collection, your music booklet will be available to collect at Fisherwick Church on the morning of the event when you arrive. If you would like to have a PDF version of the music emailed to you to peruse in advance, please email Laura: manager@belfastphilharmonic.org.uk
