About the Event
Come and share the experience of rowing our beautiful community-built traditional currach with a crew of people of all ages and abilities.
We will take groups of 8 out on the water, leaving from the mooring dock by Governors Bridge for a one hour row up to Stranmillis Weir and back, or downriver to Ormeau Bridge and back on Saturday the 11th and Sunday 12th of May 2019.
It is a great way to get a different experience of the River Lagan and see the city of Belfast from a different angle. If you like it you can join our group – we row regularly with weekend rows, evening rows and even an early bird row on Wednesday mornings.
This ‘have a go’ event is being offered at £5 for a taster session (plus booking fee). This will be deducted from your annual membership if you decide to join the club! We do not want anyone to be excluded on the basis that they can’t afford the fee so please get in touch if you would like to make an in-kind contribution to the club instead.
It is open to anyone who can manage to get into the boat and pull an oar. A great activity for all, partially sighted and blind people welcome. Vulnerable adults and children MUST have a responsible adult or carer with them. It is suitable for children aged 12+. Younger children might be accepted - Just talk to us first.
Lagan Curraghs are offering this taster event as part of a national campaign ‘Get Wet’ which is co-funded by SportNI and Waterways Ireland.
