About the Event
Did you ever wonder how to approach belugas underwater? Get up close and personal with polar bears without being eaten? Or not lose that important dive hole when you’re diving under the ice?
Join wildlife cameraman Doug Allan for a fascinating talk on marine biology, diving and filming at the poles, and how climate change is affecting these regions of the earth. With over 40 years first hand experience of the poles, he has witnessed first-hand the effects of the change in sea ice cover on the populations of animals north and south.
Doug has become one of the world’s best known and respected cameramen. In his 30-year filming career, he's worked for BBC, Discovery, National Geographic and many others, filming for series like The Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Frozen Planet, Ocean Giants, Operation Iceberg, Wild Cameramen at Work, and most recently Forces of Nature on BBC 1.
“For me, wildlife cameramen don’t come much more special than Doug. There’s just no one else who knows these frozen worlds as he does”. - David Attenborough
