About the Event
Why did sex evolve? How has sex shaped human psychology? Is there really a biological necessity for sex?
Showcasing three unique viewpoints, social psychologist Dr. Holly Parker, Harvard University, will discuss how evolutionary forces still impact how human beings relate to each other; Dr. Edel Hyland (QUB) will take a broad perspective – asking, why does sexual reproduction hold many advantages to the success of all life? Finally, Science communicator Emer Maguire (UK Famelab Winner and host of BBC Ulster Radio Science & Stuff) will give her very unique perspective!
Our presenters highlight the prominent role women have in science following the recent award of a Gold Athena Swan award to the School of Biological Sciences at QUB.
